WHERE TO BUY CHICKENS IN NZ

So you want to get some chickens ... where will you buy them from? Here is a list of places we know of. It's sparse at present, so please leave a comment at the bottom if you can help us build it up.

The Rare Breeds Society has a list of breeders throughout the country, sorted by the breed of chicken the breeder sells. See www.rarebreeds.co.nz.

There are poultry clubs throughout New Zealand, with suppliers of many different breeds. Their website provides a contact person for many areas of New Zealand. Contact your nearest club representative to ask which of their members supplies the breed you're interested in. See nzpoultryassociationsinc.co.nz.

    There was a feature in the North Shore Times newspaper a number of years back about a lady who you could purchase a chicken set up package, as such, in varying sizes. She would come & organise everything for you & even offered a return service if you found chickens weren’t for you. Does anyone know anything about this or her contact? Thanks
